Personally, I think it is better than FF VII, simply because it is such a strange combo that it was either going to rock or flop, and it rocked. It had a bigger challenge ahead of it that FF VII did, because it was a completely new series with an idea that many didn't like at first. Final Fantasy, however, was already an established series with many devout followers. So I think Kingdom Hearts is the bigger triumph.
