Photographs of women with their personal parts, or 'beavers' fully dsiplayed, sometimes splayed were not found in readily available print magazines prior to Hustler.

National Lampoon celebrated this by advertising on one of their covers that they too would offer a 'split beaver' centerfold. Theirs turned out to be a medical illustration of a disected Beaver.
