I'm glad you liked it, but remain skeptical. i like McCain too, but he has an agenda in giving this speech. In the speech, he distances himself from his friend Sen. Kerry, and takes a swipe at Cindy Sheehan.
i happen to mostly agree with McCain, but I doubt it's as rosey and wonderful as the picture he paints. He is attempting to inoculate himself from being called too liberal or moderate in 2008, ESPECIALLY since he introduced the anti-torture bill (did he introduce it? Can't remember). He's playing to conservatives, at a time when conservatives really need someone to play to them.
"But the thing is that I'm concerned about this country's future. I get the feeling the administartion is more focused on rebuilding iraq and not focusing on our (americans) needs. I'm concerned about the financial situation of this country. We're already borrowing a trillion of dollars from other countries to pay for this war. How much is this going to cost the taxpayers in the long run?"
fair concerns, but I'm concerned that they don't even really care as much about Iraq as they talk. If poll numbers continue to fall, they will begin to care less and less.
