Nah, Alex Cox directed it. I think Micky Dolenz from the Monkees produced it and made a cameo though. First time I saw it I didn't get it, gave it a second watch and loved it. I love the incredibly generic product names on everything in the movie, nothing more then the description of the item on a white label.
