I remember having trouble with one level of Sonic & Knuckles (or maybe Sonic 3), where you were supposed to get through this one part of a temple or something and there's ghosts, but it was near-impossible to do it. I'd always get stuck until time ran out. I managed to beat it out of some kind of freak luck the last time I played. But yeah, there was a design hiccup or something.

I went through the exact same thing Fortunately, I managed to beat S&K 3 on a Sonic game compilation on my computer, a few years ago.
