To add to that bad synopsis, the game starts off with the final showdown between Richter Belmont and Dracula (which occured in the previous game, Rondo of Blood and it's American counterpart, Dracula X). Three years pass and you are in control of Alucard, the son of Dracula, who was awakened from his deep sleep after the premature ressurection of Dracula and his castle, to put a stop to it. You eventually will meet up with Maria, Richter's sister-in-law, eventually, who has been searching for him since his disappearance following the reemergence of the castle. Basically, what was said Metroid-style level description and RPG/experience system is accurate. What also made the game different from the others in the series was that Alucard's arsenal included mostly swords (no whips), he used magic spells and more advanced shapeshifting, and overall, he was a lot smoother and easier to control than most of the character's from previous games. Now you should go and spend $60 looking for it on Ebay, ZBF.
