It depends on the Death Pool in which you're participating. In my case, it works like so: Celebrity dies. Subtract their age from 100, and you have your point score. It keeps everyone from picking a bunch of 90 year-olds who are knocking at death's door.
With such a scoring system, it's good to have a handful of younger celebrities who are known to have medical, mental, or substance abuse problems, so if just one kicks off, you get a huge point score. It's conceivable that one single celebrity death could win someone the pot. Lindsay Lohan, for instance, would get me 79 or 80 points.
Fortunately, I found out that no one in the pool picked Anna Nicole, so the race is still pretty close. It may be bad karma, but if the Great Equalizer can net me a little cash, well..... I wasn't really using my good karma anyway.
