Well, in the end, it was a waste of $10. At least I bought The thing too. Is that supposed to be any good?

Yeah, it's supposed to be good. I think it's mentioned in "greatest horror movie moments" here on I-mockery. Haven't watched it myself though, so I can't guarantee anything.
