As far as I know the cat can't excercise. It can only really wobble a bit before he just plops over. I know that Science Diet gave them a shit ton of free diet cat food and that once the cat loses all the weight Science Diet wants to use him as a testimonial.
As far as the skin i'd have to ask my sister about that.
