Spoken by someone who wasn't there. I was, for both.
Joe Frazier was, and is one of the most revered sports figures Philadelphia has ever produced. The city mourned with great reverence the untimely passing of his son, Marvis, of a congenital undiagnosed heart condition.
The "blowing up of a housing project", was, in fact a C-4 bomb dropped on a warlike bunker built by a group dedicated toward verbal harrassment and physical violence against the community. The neighborhood was working-class and not a "housing project" in West Philadelphia. Think the Montana "Freemen" or the Branch Davidians in an urban setting.
The bombing was viewed as the only reasonable solution to the existing problem, and history has shown it to be extremely ill-conceived. It was organized and ordered by the African-American mayor of that time, and was botched by his hand-picked police and fire commissioners.
You probably also think that Mumia Abu-Jamal is innocent, like all the hollywood yahoos that demonstrate for his release.
You, my friend, are a bigot.
From one who lived through it.
