Apparently not; since people still buy it up like crack. But change wouldn't hurt, either, and it would still be Pokemon if, say, you had the chance to start with a ghost type, or were somebody other than an average Joe.

I completely agree with you, its been pretty much the same exact formula since game one. Sure, theres that addition have having TWO (omg) pokemon out at once during a fight but ... so far, is that it? I cant help but think how a Pokemon game would be if it played out like Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army (why...why does it have to be that long?). Figured that kind of change would be fun. Maybe...
