Like I said, it's derived from Hebrew. It wasn't born out of Greek Paganism yadda yadda. Context is everything. The Hebrew word was Olot which didn't have a direct translation for the King James translation, but that's what they're referencing. There are lots of examples of secular uses of the word long before the Shoah, but it's origins were the appropriation of the Old Testament.
