When my uncle decided to go work in Saudi Arabia for five years, everyone in my family thought he was an idiot. This isn't any different.
Going to the Middle East when you don't have to is foolhardy, especially for Americans. You'd need to get a maple leaf tattooed on your forehead to take attention away from the target you'd have on your ass.
Do you really need to go there, just so you can say, "Gee, what they showed on TV really is true. They blow each other up. Whoa."
