Well lets see...there are only three wild cats are found North America...the Canada lynx, the Bobcat, and the Puma.
The presence of the Canada lynx has only been confirmed in Montana, Washington, Wyoming, and Maine. It might occur in Indiana, but that hasn't been confirmed and it would be very rare in that area anyway.
The Bobcat ranges through southern Canada and the northern United States, but it does not occur in Indiana, so scratch that...
The eastern puma, (puma concolor couguar) is listed on the Indiana endangered species list, so thats what I would assume it was.
Did it leave any footprints on the ground or scratch marks on the tree or the fence? If you can show me some pictures of those I might be able to figure out what it was from that. Also, did it leave any feces?
