The reason Tim Burton is remaking this is because Warner Brothers wants to get the rights to do the sequal. The Dahl estate was unhappy with the original movie because it wasn't dark enough, and wouldn't give up the rights. It is Burton's intent to please the Dahl estate and make a movie that is closer to the book. But from what I heard Planet of the Apes was closer to the book itself. So who knows how this will turn out
