I'll third that 2 minute dying break. Beverly Hillibillies is by far one of my all-time favourite sitcoms. So many TV critics dismissed it then as nothing but lowbrow humour yet it managed to reach an audience of 60 million viewers making it the #1 sitcom of 1960s, and the Clampetts even thanked you for dropping by at the end of every episode. So in hommage of Buddy Edsen (Uncle Jed) here's by memory the opening lyrics to one of the greatest sitcoms of all-time...
[center:6286bbf40b]Let me tell you a story about a man name Jed
Poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed
Then one day he was shooting at some food
And up from the ground came a bubbling crude
Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea
Well the next thing you know old Jed is a millionaire
His kin folks said, "Hey, Jed, move away from there!"
They said, "California is the place you ought to be"
So they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly
Hills that is, swimming pools, movie stars[/center:6286bbf40b]
