What is it with men and children

I never plan on having a kid, just for the fact that in sitcom fashion, me and my "future wife" try to get romantic but then Billy comes in asking for a story, and i dont have the endless amount of money that i use to think my parents had and that i'll be able to buy things to make him happy. If I do get a child, im gonna be a hardass and I'll have all the channels blocked from him, and no internet, not till he's 16 or he somehow proves to be mature. Too much garbage in the media, although I can't say that i don't enjoy some of it.
