Yeah, but freezing time (even with the exception of himself) would mean that he would freeze EVERYTHING outside himself ... including the much needed oxygen molecules needed to sustain all carbon-based life forms ... and he would soon die ... dipshit ... just sayin' :/

Freezing everything but yourself would probably cause you to age anyway, so you'd probably die before you're supposed to.

Why do you have to spoil Jixby's dreams by using LOGIC? If you hadn't interfered this thread could have had a million zany ideas about the freezing of time by now

If I could stick time in a bottle...

Actually, you'd probably not even be able to move if everything but you was frozen in time. Time would probably be necessary to move the air's molecules around, as you push through them with your body.

Yeah, but according to Julian Barbour in his book The End of Time, time does not really exist anyway. That sort of makes this whole thread mute. :/

I saw a twilight zone where Henry Fonda stopped time with a pocketwatch and then the pocketwatch broke and time was frozen forever.

It was sad.

K, disregarding all the logistical AND logical problems inherent in stopping time, what, aside from sleeping, what else would be the advantage of this time altered state?

You are so counter-culture it makes me wet.

You'd enough time to be completely lazy. But you'd still want to conserve your time, as you still age even though everybody else isn't. If you spent so much time frozen, it would look like you had that aging disease.

Also it would be super easy to pull pranks.

You could study for tests DURRING your test.

You could use it to "disapear" in front of people, perhaps as a part of a magic act or to make people think they are insane, causing them to kill themselves with unnessessary medication (this is what happened to the neighbor on Bewitched )

The only time it wouldn't really work well is if you wanted to get somewhere fast, because you'd have to drive for it to not be a pain in the ass. If the other cars aren't moving then neither are you.
