Old Feb 21st, 2003, 09:55 AM        COMBAT TROOPS TO THE PHILLIPINES
I think I mentioned on the old boards that where the US sends military 'advisors' to a country, combat troupes follow. Today we are sending more than a thousand combat troupes to the Philipines, were they will engage terrorist groups or revolutionaries, depending on which band of organized killers you side with.

I know we have Military Advisors in Columbia, I'm not sure if we have them anywhere else yet. It will be interesting to see if inserting combat trouopes into another country is processed by the news media as
A.) Business as usual, which it most certainly is not.
B.) Part of the legitimate 'war on terrorism', and worthy of close scrutiny as this would be the first step outside of Afghanistan into a much larger arena
C.) A distraction from more noteworthy stories such as Iraq and Michael Jackson's next chemical peel.
