Ha ha! True.
The professor was keeping a record of his research and recording it, and read the passage aloud. I'm pretty sure it was explained in the tape and it wasn't terribly hard to understand. They gave the professor more of a backstory in the second one, but really, it's not too difficult to understand.
Demons don't need a motive for tree rape. I'm pretty sure the fact that they're
demons covers it.
