I signed up for it for laughs. Most of the positions in my area want 15 years experience.

It's a Monster-type job site that claims to be for jobs that pay more than $100k ("for $100k talent"). The idea is that they can get people who don't make that kind of money, but have high opinions of themselves, to sign up for a paid membership to the site.

fwiw, there's a free membership option, but you have to be dishonest about what you're currently pulling in.

And this site thinks that us as a society of slackers have that kind of commitment to stay at 1 job for more than 5 years? Pshaw, I say.

My question is what kind of company has to go to a web site to recruit thier higher-ups? This is something thats usually done through "personal networking" whereas the job would go to somebody that was already involved with the company somehow.

That's why I'm leaning towards them just trying to cash in on dumb people.

I once saw an add on craigslist that wanted a manger with 15+ years of experience, as though someone like that would have to flip through the want ads instead of consulting the contacts he's made through more than a decade of working in that business.

Maybe if you're a slacker with a COOL job. I did tattoos for just over 5 years. Ironically, I'm back in retail and I make more money now. How'd THAT happen?

Plus chances are you'll just spend your 100K staring at a horse-racing screen mean-mugging all day.

I read an article about a bunch of people (one a former 6-figure financial something-or-other) fighting over a $7/hr retail job. It was like 20 people fighting over 1 $7/hr position. It was depressing.

Depressingly hilarious!

I also saw a mortgage broker lose his job and become a shoe shiner making 20 grand.

I want to know how far all of this has to devolve before someone ends up parading Paris Hilton's head around on a pike.
