Vivendi Universal Games is expected to formally announce a November 26th release date for Half-Life 2 in Europe shortly, along with a US release three days earlier, after informing UK retail partners of the date this week.

There is a review in the dutch version of PC gameplay. Unfortunatly i cant read dutch but from what i can be bothered to translate it has no multiplayer deathmatch : /

My Doom 3 screenshots looked better than those. If that's seriously what HL2 looks like, a lot of people are going to be disappointed. Small wonder, though, since it was supposed to come out over a year ago.

i think they look pretty great, especially considering i always thought the wonder of half-life was in it's gameplay and online community.
i'd suck a horsecock to get a gnarly-ass update to TFC.

The HL2 textures are sharper than Doom3s imo but doom has more advanced lighting and shadows.
You also need to rember that HL2 has alot of large outdoor areas which would not work well on a doom3 like engine. Also the physics engine in HL2 (havoc 2) is more advanced than dooms which should count for alot when it comes to vehicles and objects.

Yea the games requirements aren't really all that high. The beta ran just fine on a GF4 ti4200 abiet no DX9 stuff but looked good anyway.
Should be a kick ass game, not to mention all the mods already in development.

I've got the HL2 footage disc and some of the videos are amazing. The screenshots dont do it any good really
Also although it has no multiplayer deathmatch there will be a new counterstrike that runs on the HL2 engine

Well CS:S will be a bonus but i would have loved to use the gravity gun and vehicles etc in multiplayer. Also the welding gun which allows you to 'weld' objects together, you can make big barrell structures or weld extra defences to the dune buggey, it kicks ass.
But i guess it will only take about a month for someone to make a MP mod.

I heard that if you weld a door closed and the enemies cant break through they will use eachother as a ladder to get into a window on a higher floor or get one of those War of the worlds thingys to blast the walls out of the building!

umm i dont think you can weld doors shut. The welder, if it remains unchanged from the beta, simply fires a blob of 'solder' with alt fire then if you drag another objects with solder on into contact with the aformentiond 'solder' then they will attach to each other. It can however be broken with enough force.
I think the 'climbing though higher windows' thing is probably not true, The AI is good but not that good. Also the 'war of the worlds thing' I think it called a strider, and they can only blast though specific walls. The source engine does not have any type of geo-mod technology.

Well the story, from what is known, goes that the country is bieng opressed my a military force known as the colombine. The squad which you fight with are freedom fighters trying to overthrow said opressors.
