Old Mar 27th, 2003, 10:57 AM        My friends think any music with screaming is Slipknot
They were over, and I started playing some Shockwave and they were like "SLIPKNOT SIX SIX SIX!! TURN THIS SHIT OFF, FAG!" I hate my friends

One of my friends also asked "Is this slipknot?" while I was playing Converge in the car

Somone get me new friends

All you have to do is stop listening to Slipknot.

I just got In Flames' "The Jester Race" and I was playing it in my mom's car when we went to the store.

It was on the title song, just got to where the vocals come in, and she says "It sounds like they're mimicing Metallica."

I like Metallica and all, but . . . fuck! Eeehhh.

"lol go away newbi w. ur late reposnse...."

Mine have been trying to tell me that Death Metal and Grindcore require no talent, and when i told them to try screaming without going hoarse, or drumming double bass for an entire CD, they said "that doesn't count". They also said the vocalist is the most important person in a band.

How the hell can that "not count"? What kind of music do your friends listen to so that drumming and screaming are non-factors in the determination of "talent"?

Old Heavy Metal, mostly. Priest, Maiden, Metallica, that kind of shit. They whine because you "can't understand the singing".

Just because music is difficult to create doesn't mean it should be appreciated.

That'd be like me eating an eight lb. steak, drinking a jug of ex-lax, shitting onto a canvas and saying that it was great art because my asshole stretched 3 inches.

Shit, I'd never assume that technicality equals creativity and appreciation of one's craft. I understand that Rush is fabulous when it comes to knowing one's instruments, but I still think that they suck shit when it comes to songwriting. Conversely, the Misfits were a dearth of talent when it came to knowing their instruments, but I still enjoy a bunch of their songs.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that like what you like. Don't be judgmental under the criterion of (a) my favourite band can play triple reverse dweeb barre chords and your's can't, or (b) my favourite band doesn't even know what triple reverse dweeb barre chords are, so your bestest band are nothing but sellouts.

Like what you like. Hate what you hate. Don't let anyone else's opinions matter one whit. I've now hit 100 posts, and only 97 of them were totally and utterly useless (including this one).

HUZZAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Noob, to any song they listen to say,

'Is this Saves the Day?'

It will shut them up.
