Growing up, my mom would go crazy cooking during October.

She'd make all kinds of crap, our favorites being pumpkin stew (the kind where you use the pumpkin itself as a bowl), halloween themed gingerbread cookies, and "broomsticks" (breadsticks wrapped in bacon).

Hells yes. Vegetables, beef, it's great. Really unique taste, 'cause instead of broth, you just pour the water and vegetables into the pumpkin and it all soaks up the flavor. You add the beef in last, because you actually don't want too much of the flavor going into the meat.
