I would also suggest Commandos series, although It may be impossible to play the older ones because of the faster computers we have nova days.

Red alert is possibly the best rts of all time imo(I like Starcraft too but not as

much as C&C). I'm holding out for starcraft 2 because i heard tiberium wars

wasn't that good.

As for games you should get, Counterstrike and wait for Bioshock for fps,

Warcraft 3 TFT and age of empires for rts. Those are only kind of games i

play.

If you like shooting things and don't own Half Life 2 then you are criminally underusing your PC. Get it.

Get Steam, it's a great way to get some games, and Geometry Wars is a fantastic little shooter for just a few quidolas.

Warhammer Dark Crusade is a massively fun RTS just oozing with character, some of the best voice work I've heard in a game in a long time.

If you like those old lucasart/sierra adventure games you might want to try out some of the amateur adventure games you can find here. I won't bother making a huge list of favored titles since the site it's self is organized well enough that deviating the good games from the bad is pretty easy. I'll only recommend one game (and its three subsequent sequels), 5 Days a Stranger. Comedy/horror, very well made, has it's funny moments and has it's genuinely frightening moments, I'm not ashamed to admit it made me jump once or twice.
