sounds like what used to happen to me when I'd install incomplete versions of windows :O

You should probably wait for other suggestions but if none come you could try reinstalling windows.

WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent.

Press F1 to Continue
p.s. i don't have a hard disk 2 :[

OKAY SO THEN I PRESS F1, RIGHT

But, no matter what I press, it does the same thing. It goes to the windows loading screen, sits there for a while[it says its loading, the blue bar moves and all], then restarts

maybe it thinks you have a partition?
try formatting/repartitioning, maybe.
not a quick format either. Sometimes certain formats can help fix computers
again though I'm not really sure, that's just what I'd do.

boot into dos from a startup disk. you can make them in windows usually or sometimes they come with it.

then type format [driveletter]:

maybe check the options under format /? to see if you need to use an option to do hardcoreformat.

there's also programs you can (sometimes) download online for formatting/repairing harddrives that will boot when the computer loads usually(without loading windows). I'd try the old formatting jig first though because I'm not sure if you could find a good program for your harddrive .
I had one for western digital drives a long time ago.

You mean 'safe mode', not 'standby mode'.

When the computer is loading the OS from your hard disks (before the 'cannot read from disk 2 error'), but BEFORE the Windows logo and bar show up, press F8. This will give you boot options. Start with 'safe mode with networking', because this will let you get online to get anti-virus and the like, but try Safe Mode by itself after that. (If you're not getting the options, you aren't hitting F8 at the right time. Just tap F8 every second or so when rebooting if you can't get the timing right)

If that doesn't work, try booting from your Windows CD and attempting an OS repair from the first options it gives you. If THAT doesn't work, you'll have to reformat and reinstall Windows. If you can't afford to lose your data, with your current level of skill you should just take the hard disk (or computer if you don't know how to get it out) to a CompUSA or something and have them give you CDs with the hard disk's data on it before you reformat.

Just how illegal are we talking?

You have had a hard drive failure. I doubt anything will bring your hard drive back to life. You may be able to recover files off of it if you install a second hard drive and use that as your main drive (install windows on it). Then try to see if windows will recognize your first drive at all, and if it will then load as many of your files that are not corrupt onto the second drive.

At that point you can throw out the busted drive, it is not going to get repaired, it is toast.

as long as you don't have child porn or beastiality on there, compusa doesn't care that you pirated barbie horse adventures.

You do seem like the type that would load up on kiddie porn, though. "Just for uh, the shock value, man."

If it is just furry porn, like his avatar, that doesn't count as beastiality, although they might look at you strange.

If it's that cartoon dog porn that you had though, russo, they're probably allowed to hit you in the face.

The hard drive is not going to have compatible plugs with your desktop unless you buy a whole bunch of parts off of some place like digikey and make a modified cable yourself. And even then, it may use a hard drive controller that is not available on your desktop.

I would suggest adding another hard drive to your laptop if it has a spot for it. If it doesn't, then your problem is above the fix-it-yourself level.

So that brings us back to the question... what's so illegal on your hard drive?
