Most ORIGINAL games?

I'd have to say, Doom 3 at the time of its release for the heavy use of darkness. Call of Cthulhu Dark corners of the earth because you don't get a gun until a little over a third of the game.

what's so original about metal slug? It's like contra but with better graphics and the ability to ride vehicles. I'm not saying it's a sad game, but is that's what you consider MOST ORIGINAL GAME, then you must of been born in the 1990's.

MDK is very different. It was also very fast, too. As for an original game, I would have to say Parappa the Rappa is a very original game.

Viewtiful Joe is original in its execution.

This thread could be good and I'll put some effort into it but not quite yet. There are so many original games.....

I'll just start off with one newer one that was pretty original.

Dead Rising: At first glance it seems like it's just any other action game or maybe a State of Emergency with zombies. Not so. Original take on a survival/rescue theme, timed events, unheard of weapons, classic kills/death scenes, leveling and a original next gen use of zombies in video games.

Metal Gear Solid series. No developer has come close to pumping out anything close to its cinematic style and stealth game play.

That doesn't make it original, that just makes it better.

I would have to say okami, I don't see the ZELDA similarities (you don't use boomerages and shit) and the whole fighting and art style are unique. That is original game, most of you are just talking about good games.

The Haunting: Starring Polterguy. There was a similar themed game that came out a few years ago, but it wasn't very good. That's probably the most original game I've played.

Kid Chameleon is kiiiiind of original.

I'd say Tenchu: Stealth Assasins. I love the fucking grappling hook and traveling from rooftop to rooftop.

I'd say Robot Alchemic Drive. It's a giant robot simulator wherein the characters use a giant PS2 controller to work the things. A bland story and horrendous voice acting, but still fun and original. Just wish there was more fighting.

tecmo's deception i thought was pretty originals. the idea of laying traps an luring people into them conjures up a mental image thats a bit different than the somewhat counterintuitive reality of it :o still i found it enjoyable

dragonseeds also, kind of a pet monstar battle game where you engineer dragons at a lab an trains them for whatever stats an gives them swords an shields an make em fite. if you ever lost or even ended in a tie then yer pet was deadddd forever with no recourse an that was so hardcore it made me afraid to lose. battlesystem was too simplistic an there wasnt enough interaction with the world to keep my interest moren a few weeks but. it was different

So very right. The visuals are amazing, too. Aside from the explosions, though, because those weren't as amazing.

I'd probably have to say Phantom Crash for the Xbox is my one of my all time favorite games its all about Stealth Mech Combat which is either completely or almost unheard of in gaming. I still remember playing one of the Area Rankers (bosses) and hiding beside a dumpster, and then the dillweed came around a corner only to have me decloak and impale his shitty mech on my hydraulic spear arm.

I never got a chance to play S.L.A.I. on the ps2 which was the sequel.


Also from Genki I'd say the "Jade Cocoon" series, it was like pokemon on the PS1 but the big feature was being able to combine ALL the monsters in the game to create some really fucking sweet ones.
