Yeah, Remakes suck. Except for Peter Jacksons King Kong, which was Great as it Featured a Different take on a Classic film. Here are some movie remakes that suck.

King Kong (1970's version with to much gore to be sentimental)

Texas Chainsaw massacre 2000 (lacked the Fear and suspense of the Original, as well as the Meat Locker scene and Man in wheelchair getting Shredded)

Night of the Living Dead 90 (Didnt seem as good as the original)

The Omen 2006 (a rushed project to take advantage of the Marketning tools of the Year 2006 by releasing the movie on 6/6/06)

The Longest Yard (while not terrible, it was a PG-13 remake of a Classic R rated movie (they better not do it to Slap Shot))

How so? Its not like I hated the Remake of Night of the living dead, its that it lacked the Social commentary of Romero's Original. The 90 version had better gore (due to it being directed by Tom Savini). I found the same problem with the new Dawn of the Dead.

There's a difference because the newer Dawn turned it into a straight-forward action movie, while the Night of the Living remake was really just a improvement on the original. In that sense, Dawn was actually remade as new. NotL was the same thing with a few added features thrown in, except for the ending.

aside from Barbara the 90s remake is almost identical

There both great movies, Romeros bing a great social commentary, and Savinis being a fun Zombie flick.

Precisely, Savini's NoTLD was Just a Violent and Fun Zombie film. While George A Romero, in all his films, contained social commentary and Insight into the Human Psyche that we dont see very often. Neither is a Bad film, but It is a personal preferance of Mine that I prefer the original films.

In the original night of the living dead, The Social Commentary wasnt very evident until the end, where Ben gets shot and killed after Being either mistaken for a zombie or he may have been murdered by a racist who wanted any excuse to kill a black man (with the film being made during the sixties, it wouldnt be surprising if the theme was Racism in America) it also ephasises the importance of Teamwork to defeat the Zombies as WOrking together is integral to human survival.

In dawn of the dead, the Theme this time around is Consumerism. This is highlighted by the fact that the Zombies all converge upon the mall, as the mall was an important place in their lives and repressed memories draw them towards it.

Day of the dead, also emphasises the Importance of Team Work and the growing power of the military at the time of the films release with the military personel having more power than the scientists who attempt to understand the Problem at hand, while the military personel tends to go out with guns blazing. It could also be Interpeted as a commentary on the growing hostility between the United states and the Soviet union, with the military having power and not taking the time to examine the situation and all the thinkers who are willing to talk and discuss to seek a peaceful solution but having no say in the matters that important.

In land of the dead, the Entire World has been taken over and humanity is fucked. Teamwork is Emphasised as with all the other films (I cannot commentate more on this one as I have yet to finish it)

After rewatching 2001: A Space Odyssey last night, I think a remake would be awesome. Preferably if it was 22 minutes and 35 seconds long.

ya, misdemonar is right, Romero said himself that the Posse was to kill Ben indiscrimnately just because they were jun crazy trailor trash. The only reson people think it was racism because Ben was black. In truth the character of Ben wasn't written black or white, Romero just hired whom he thought was a better actor, it was iregardless of color.

Land of the Dead is mostly about how the weak and the stupid hold the greatest power.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

It still doesnt change the fact that In many of the "Dead" movies, Teamwork and Failure to Cooperate is what inevitably leads the survivors to their Demise.

I've seriously never understood this movie :/

If I were the main character, I'd just leave it alone.

Just, Let it go

I can relate. There are many things that I don't get in horror movies. For example, why that one stupid cop grabbed Chucky's head in Child's Play, after being specifically told not to touch the pieces.
