Old Apr 19th, 2010, 11:22 PM        My Own Bizzare Toy Findings
I've been really enjoying the recent Bizarre Toy Find articles and wondered if I could find similar things around my town.
So this past weekend I dragged a few of my friends to some of the local flea-markets to see if I could obtain one of these "treasures".
And I'm extremely happy to report I found one on my very first outing!

Little Animal's Telephone!

Look at that thing!
It's apparently a toy telephone that looks like Goku from the show Dragon Ball Z.
I say apparently because it has no real description of what it is.

As you can see it's simply named "TELEPHONE" from a company called "Little Animal".
Aside from the unlicensed picture of Goku on the right, there's no indication of who or what this is supposed to be.

So besides the "Voice or Musical" telephone part, what does it do?

It has a flashlight (or "Electric torch") that is controlled by moving it's arm up and down.

Anything else?

I have no idea. But that is a fine bit of Engrish there isn't it?
"Nighttime a bankable actor" may not be quite as good as "Can seesaw the booy", but I'd say it's a fine second place.

Oh, and there's one other odd thing I noticed about it.

They made him a woman!
For some reason they gave him lipstick and mascara, really makes the thing look creepy as hell.

There it is in all it's unboxed glory!
So, can a extremely cheap toy that looks like it's been sitting in a warehouse for ten years possibly still work?

Yep.

I had a blast finding this thing.
And I will definitely be going to more flea-markets in the future in search for additional items of such quality.

P.S. I did pick up one other thing while I was out.

This elf appears to have eaten all the other elves to obtain the magical snowball.
I'm sure I would have done the same thing.

Both of those are great, I like the baby smiling from inside the sun teletubbies style.

Haha, great stuff Dextire! I love going out in search of bizarre toys. Definitely looks like the toy is some kind of Dragon Ball Z knockoff... with a phone built into his chest for some inexplicable reason. Weird man...

Thanks guys! Now I wish I'd bought a couple more of the telephone things. There was a whole box of them.
When I went to buy it, the lady asked "What is it?", after I told her I had no idea, she said "You found that here?!".

You're right, Pentegarn. One button definitely sounds like a dial-up modem.
It really doesn't make any sense at all.

Great find. It is hilarious. I always wonder who thinks up these toys.

I don't think much "thought" goes into them... I think it's more of a "what crap do we have laying around the factory that we can shove into this toy to sell?" kind of situation.

I'm sure Rog's right, but I would love to hear a pitch to the boss for this thing.

Pitchman: "Ok Boss, you're gonna love this!" Boss: "I'm listening."
Pitchman: "We take the cartoon man from that dragon show the kids love." Boss: "Ok."
Pitchman: "And we put a phone in his chest!" Boss: "What?!"

Pitchman:
"Wait, and we also put in a flashlight that you control with his arm!" Boss: "So, you want to make a toy telephone for boys?"
Pitchman: "We can put makeup on him so it's for girls too!" Boss: "You're fired. How did you even get in here?"
Pitchman:
"Nighttime a bankable actor." Boss: "It's a brilliant idea! Let's do it! "
