Look, the game was (to my understanding) made to be a more fast paced, action packed platformer to compete with the other platformer games out there. Most notably Mario. But up until after Sonic Adventure was released, it was never soley about going right as fast as you can and jump over the one or two enemies in your way.

Adventure was only two fifths running, and Adventure 2 was only one third. Also, the Genesis games were the LEAST fun when you were platforming heavily, since Sonic has shit handling in every video game (as opposed to Mario, who controls like a dream).

Sonic was always bad, but we forgave him because he ran fast and had did what Nintendon't.

Loop de loops were made to look as though Sonic was going faster than he really was, same goes for the checkerboard ground and dual colored grass on the first level. In other levels, you have other distractions that pull your attention away from Sonic primarily, which makes him look faster than he was but the game was never made soley to go right as fast as you can. I have never had handeling issues when it came to Sonic. I've had more issues with Mario when he did that gay ass sliding thing... And Also, to prove that Sonic wasn't initially about 'speed' was how long it took for him to actually get up to full speed. The power shoes was just to add more to it.

Actually.... You've got me there, Angryhydralisk. Going back and such, the music is still more happy-go-lucky but some parts have more metal-esque parts then I would have liked...

Well the gimmick was half true.. I mean, the Genesis was able to show more motion than the SNES at that time, but thats really it.

What they need to do with Sonic is... Make a game like that Link's Crossbow whatever the shit. Call it Dr. (whatever the bad guys name was from Sonic 1 and 2.) Big Game Hunting, or something like that. All you do is hunt Sonic and all his buddies in a modern day duck hunt.

I think sonic might need to take some family medical leave or something for a while. It seems like Mario can pick and choose what genres he delves into and make it enjoyable. On the other hand there is Sonic shuffle.... I don't think there is anything else that makes me cringe as much as Knuckles "Awww, Maan" whenever he loses...which is a lot.....because it's Sonic Shuffle and nobody wins.

As much as I hate Nintendo for wanking the same franchises over and over again with minimal changes, their games are still somewhat amusing. Sega however should stop trying these lame ideas with Sonic series, go back to the basics and start over. Remakes of the classic games wouldn't be a bad idea, and the last thing the series need is more lame characters.

One problem with a re-make. You know it would be all 3D, 'extreme', Sonic would be a faggot and all the levels would be re-made just so all you have to do is run really fast.
And they would add newer, gayer characters..
