I live by myself in this ancient house that has existed exactly the same since 1928. The walls are a hideous color of green, the ceiling is peeling... well, pretty much everything about the house desperately need to be brought up to date.
But due to the lack of much-needed renovations, the house has been given a Raccoon City type of feel to it. I could imagine myself grabbing a large cache of grenade-launcher ammo in the sink of my dilapadated kitchen then head down the nearby stairway to my cellar (yes, a kooky old stone-walled basement) to greet a bloodthirsty mutant dog feeding on one of the many cats that prowl my block. Yes, that is an accurate description of the creepy feel of my house.
I just returned from my basement (that none of my friends will even enter at night) an hour ago from doing my laundry. I will tell you this, laundry will never give you such terror like it does me when the furnace comes on and makes the entire house creak like a parade of horrors awaid to seal my doom just upstairs. Doors swing with no wind due to a sinkhole and an unlevel foundation, lights turn on and off by themselves courtesy of faulty wiring, and shutter flip open occasionally because they are just too damn old to use anymore.
Sure, I am used to it after livng here for a year and a half, but I keep finding newer reasons to fear the-
... oh shit. That sounded just like a roar. And I still have yet to retreive my laundry...

I will never get used to it here.

I would like to know if anyone else as had expiriences in fun-house living conditions.

Not untill I can afford an exorcist up in this hizzle. Last time I tried a party it tragically ended when someone tried to use the possessed toilet in the basement.

I'm confused, was the house was built in 1928?

If so, that isn't very old. :/

No, it just hasn't changed in any way (except for detierioration) since that date, when the last male owner died.

You know, my great-grandmother actually DIED on a mattress I used to sleep on for years and my mom didn't tell me this until we were about to get rid of it.

So do you own this house or do you rent it?

Did the guy die in the house? My parents old house would really freak me out. The entertainment center was in the basement and the pantry was down a long dark hallway where we called it The Crypt.

I never got used to being alone in that basement. Just the feel of it creeped me out. From time to time the walls in the house would creak and groan, it always gave me the feeling that there was someone else in the room.

I like it because I can now brave perrils with greater confidence, but I would rather I not be completely alone. My grandmother owns this house, but she lives many miles away and just lets her offscpring use it.
You see, I am a nearly 20-year old man, and even though I know there is nothing creepy about it, I still get spooked. Especially the first time I heard that damn tree that scrapes the window next to my computer. I chopped that branch immiediatly that night.
So this is nothing like your childhood "afraid of the dark" memories.

And Marylin, just shut up. You don't have to one-up everything that has to do with being dark and terrible. I sometimes have trouble getting girls to come in because they are too scared to enter, you woulden't do much better.

You could try fixing it up a little. Maybe then it wouldn't be so damn creepy.

I crashed at that house once. It sucked... his TV didn't have an adaptor for PS2

I'd be more worried about a fire produced by the faulty wiring than any ghostly hauntings from the great beyond.

My grandpa lives in my backroom. He's kinda creepy. I always feel like he's watching me and following me around at night.

He also died about 8 years ago.

Back in '98 when my grandpa kicked the bucket, we scooped his corpse out of his room and sealed it off. We didn't take any furniture out of it either, we just took down the door-moulding, and wallpapered over it. When The family moves out of the house I'm planning to crack down the false wall and clear out his rooom.
