That's what the "authorities" say, at any rate. Apparently they got bit by the "reality show" bug with their stint on "Wife Swap" and were hungry for more.

Given how the Octomom was able to turn bad press into a money-making opportunity, it wouldn't surprise me if the family were to get enough money from interviews and such to pay off their legal bills and still have enough to fund their next crazy scheme.


In other words, the hoax was a success.
