I know it really doesn't make any sense, and I was in tremendous pain when this was explained to me, but anyway, there's less gum tissue or muscles or something around the front teeth -- all that's really there is bone and nerve. When you inject novacaine in the back of the mouth, you're injecting it in the gums, or muscle, or whatever the fuck that is. But in the front, you inject it directly into the roots, and it hurts like fuck.
Wait, I don't know how much it hurts in general other than it hurts more to get novacaine shots in the front. But if they inject novacaine directly into a big ball of pus, it hurts like hell.
After that, getting novacaine shots doesn't hurt at all. And I would almost guarentee I've had more fillings than any of you. I saw the x-ray of my mouth last time I was at the dentist, and it looked like there were far more fillings than there was actual tooth.
