I must look like I was agreeing with the Iron Mitchell person, I didn't read any posts before mine when I made my Jesus Lizard comment. I just like Jesus Lizard, anyways.

The Clash were good during thier run, and since they arn't around anymore, I highly doubt they'll be getting worse any time soon! So I don't know how they're going to "Go the way of the weezer or the Tool".

and noob3, i was referring to the days when only weezer were talked about here and then the days where the only band worth mentioning were tool. it just seems like the people here incorporate about as much variety in their musical diets as a fucking rabbit incorporates into his everyday diet.

after ready bobo's suggestions in the other clash thread, i downloaded london calling and sandistina (sp?). i wasnt impressed, i didnt really hear anything that stood out, it was
boring. i dont see why everyone is so defensive about these guys.

I can understand finding Sandinista! boring, but there's something wrong with you if you think London Calling is boring.

I'll admit, I didn't think London Calling was so great the first time I heard it. But there were still enough songs I liked too much to find the album boring. I dont' think I ever would have though Brand New Cadillac or Spanish Bombs were boring.

I think the reason people dont' like the Clash is because they aren't used to hearing Joe Strummer's singing voice. He really does have an awful voice. Almost every album review or biography of the Clash calls his singing voice "guttural."

A) That was me.

B) I never said all their better songs. It was like 5 of them. And not all of them were their better songs.

C) I also said that although they did cover songs, that they changed them a great deal and added more lyrics than there were in the songs originally.

in the interests of research ive given london calling a couple more listens, and yes, it does have some good songs, its enjoyable enough, but i dont think im gonna be a big clash fan anytime soon
