I guess it's supposed to be a friend tracker for your real life friends. Many of my friends live in diffent counties or even different countries and it's easy to lose touch because it's too much effort to send an e-mail or make a call. With social networking you can see what people are up to without the need to personally contact them.
That said all of it's faggy users have pretty much ruined it by using it to find rape victims and whatnot.
