Old Aug 24th, 2006, 03:43 AM        NEW SHORT: "A Visit To Mitsuwa Marketplace!"
After we left that animatronics exhibit, we headed over to Little Tokyo to see what there was to see. Sure enough, there was a grocery store that had insanely colorful snack packages. And yes, this was the place that lead up to inspiring me to create the new RainbowPuke site.

NEW SHORT: "THE COLORFUL SNACK PACKAGES AT MITSUWA MARKETPLACE!"

Enjoy!

This may or may not be already known to you, but along with SA, Gorilla Mask has begun frequently linking to your articles again.

Yeah I know about GM, we're actually "buddy sites" with them. Where on SA have they been linking to our stuff though - I assume it's on the forums, but do ya have a link to the thread? Thanks for the heads up btw.

Heh, well ironically the SA forums are linking to our stuff somewhere, the stats just don't say exactly where from. It's just originating from the forums somewhere on there. Ah well, no big deal either way...

A few months back I bought a bottle of Bubbleman apple soda. Dear Zeus, that stuff was nasty. I couldn't even finish half of the bottle.

Yeah, as I told someone else... that would make more logical sense, but on the price tags that were written in english the store was advertising them as soda. Plus, if you look closely, the characters/lovers on the label are drinking it out of a cup with straws. Go figure.

Did they have sodas in glass bottles that are sealed with a marble inside? A lot of my friends are crazy about those :/

What are they called? Any idea of the product name?

edit: Is it called "Ramune"?

If so, I think I might've seen something like those bottles there, but can't be sure. I'll have to check next time I go.

"Soda" is meant to be the flavor. In Japan there are "soda cafes" where people drink traditional style soda (carbonated water mixed with a choice of flavors, as opposed to a premade drink or a cola). Following, "soda" is just the name of a flavor, like "root beer" for a piece of hard candy, (which you conversely would never find in Japan, because they don't do root beer).

So them drinking it from a cup and the word "soda" are only as significant as a drawing of grapes on a box of grape flavored popcicles--only being used to evoke the idea of a flavor.

These are called "chu-pet" or "chu-chu" in Japan, and they are indeed meant to be frozen, snapped in half and crunched on through the plastic. I eat about 10 a day.
