Oh, I'm reminded that I watched The Man with the Iron Fists. Even though that dumb crosseyed cunt has very few scenes, the movie still sucks. I hope Django is better.

The tintin animated show was really cool.

Casino royale is amazing.

Skyfall though is fucking great.

Full effect? Yeah, I guess, though I think it'd still be enjoyable if you had pretty basic knowledge of the series. QoS doesn't change a lot.

Also, Kitsa, have you seen The Gift ? I watched that at 6 am this morning and thought you were in it. Like in a red headed Cate Blanchett kind of way.

I tend to see similar face structure, eyes and nose with chin recognition though.

Superfuzz. Ernest Borgnine and Terrence Hill are two cops in Miami, and the latter gets superpowers. Not a very good movie by any means, but I can't hate it, I find movies like this to be stupidly endearing.

a chinese ghost story iii. not as good as the other two (probably due to the lack of wu ma), but still a great movie.

what an excellent trilogy. jeeeeeeze.

an actor's revenge/revenge of a kabuki actor. beautiful movie, great plot, etc. best movie i've seen in some time.

i love the way older movies look, and i hate the way new movies look. suxxx. i just can't see the artistic merit in filming everything in front of a green screen and adding the environment in post. just build a damn set.

for a chinese ghost story 3, somebody built a temple demon... and then blew it up. they also built a giant demon tongue... and then blew it up. iron man doesn't even wear a real fucking suit sometimes. nobody gives a shit but me. sigh.

You should see it, it explains a portion of why producers and directors work in controlled environments.

I long for the days of Kurosawa. He would wait weeks to get the right weather for the battle scene. It's just not possible anymore.

Sure, It's awesome to have an idea and be able to physically make it real on film. I can't do it and neither can you. You make me a movie with no CGI with and awesome display of giants and explosions with a plot that follows through, then I can respect your hate for CGI. Until then my friend, you are just another critic.

I like obvious sets, though. I like movies that look like elaborate theater productions. Any old Shaw Brothers movie has some silly-looking fake set pieces, and they manage to make it work every time. Revenge of a Kabuki Actor has several scenes shot in a dark, closed set - no props or set pieces, just black floors. I guess it's a matter of taste, really.

I don't see why what was possible in the 60s and 70s isn't possible today. It's a pain in the ass to make a movie as stunning as Ran, but in the end... you have a movie like Ran.

I think I just really respect the problem solving when it comes to "special effects," especially in horror movies. The Evil Dead II is pretty awesome for that. You want to achieve the effect of having a severed hand running across the floor? Build a fake floor with a gap in it.

CGI can do a lot more with a lot less and provides more jobs to people in the business, so I guess there's that. I just don't like the way movies look now and I liked the way they looked several decades ago.

I find myself favoring older movies where plot moves at a slow pace and actors talk for 3 minutes to finish 1 point.

Nope, was not in The Gift.

My agent went out of business soon after my last extra gig. I hope it was a coincidence.

I took a friend and his friend to see Oz the Great and Powerful. I'd say it was just decent--decent and nothing more. I thought I should decide for myself since I had seen good reviews and weak reviews.

I'm thinking it's mainly the casting that underwhelmed me. I especially doubt that Mila Kunis was right for one particular witch (I'm keeping this vague to avoid spoilers).
