Yeah dealing with it is different than rolling over on the spot. I didn't care if they dedicated le's miserable to talking about their feelings after the fact, only rorschach really said anything to mr. IQ and even that was around the lines of "I'm taking my ball and going home". they just went on their ways, and ozymandias asks manhattan once if he did good, which sounded more like seeking validation to me.

clearly you have extensive knowledge on how to deal with aliens from other dimensions. nuclear weapons vaporize things on an atomic level, there is no evidence to show that a nuclear bomb wouldn't hurt the giant squidbillie figurine. when people don't know how to fight something, nuking it is the next immediate option. A nuclear holocaust would destroy our planet but that didn't really stop the cold war. The point stands that neutralizing one threat with another larger threat doesn't alleviate the fear in society, and the fear was what caused a nuclear arms race in the first place.

I'm not really gonna debate this comic book further than this, saying anything else would be me just repeating myself. I thought that it was short sighted ending to a book with dense and layered human interaction. you can love the ending of this book till the end of time, and it won't bother me, but I read it once and I really became wholly disinterested after ozymandia's evil lair monologue.

Fair enough if that's your breakdown and interpretation of things, I can see where you're coming from but I disagree.

If they wanted to capture the comic on film they should avoid using special effects for fighting scenes and the like, EXCEPT of course for Dr Manhattan who's superpowered for real. But any time anybody else performs a stunt, fighting or climbing around on rooftops or whatever, it should be a real (obviously very fit and all that, but still) person doing it for real.
It's so important in the comic that this is a world where real people dress up and act like superheroes, people who seriously don't have any superpowers. Unlike, say, Batman, who in a sense lacks superpowers, but who usually comes across as being SO fit and having SUCH a strong psyche that it's almost like these are his powers, and enough to make him a match for real supercreatures.

Unfortunately I think they'll do it more like a regular action movie with all of the heroes performing pretty impossible deeds all the time.

I don't care. It still looks good as a movie and I won't let opinions about how it's not like the book to cloud my vision. I think it looks great.

tending to agree with ScruU2wice's take on it, though i wasnt as let down. it was problematic, but i liked the idea enough of our heroes ultimately fighting against the unification of the world, and that the entire mess started out of professional jealousy, that the sudden dumbing down of national psychology was forgivable, if not especially intelligent. though ozy should have been offed on general principles if the mere idea of a crazy man blabbing about what really happened is enough for jon to kill him.

sex scenes were totally "eccentric dude approxomating how this scene would go" style, and were pretty awk as a result. so was the "epilogue."
but these are quibblins

I'm pretty sure it was Rorschach who told Jon to kill him.

pretty sure it was jon saying "i cant let you do that" first.
rorschach can believe that he's going to convince people, so he might also believe that he would need to be killed to be stopped... but all-knowing, all-distant jon believing him to be a loose cannon that needs stopping? hm.

He was my least favorite character in the whole novel. I felt absolutely no sympathy for him at all.

actually he was my second favorite.

I AM DISAPPOINTED VEIDT

VERY DISAPPOINTED

as far as least favorite - wth did laurie do except resent her mom, get naked a few times, and get kicked in the solar plexus? get flustered enough at jon until he decided to come back? super. and veidt. by far the biggest asshole.
and come to think of it, dreiberg was just a pudgly, lonely dork with a basement full of toys.

they all kinda suck. which is why it's kinda fun.

Dreiberg was the most likable, I thought. He was probably closest to an "average guy" but he was still pretty interesting and not totally useless. Rorschach and Comedian were the most interesting, but I guess that goes without saying

Rorschach gets extra points for effectively using a lit cigarette as a weapon.

Rorschach killed two men with a toilet.

On another note, think how weird the story would have been if DC had let Moore use the Charlton Comics characters for the story, as he originally intended.
