Fuck the Cubs. Fuck them right in the ear. When the Cubs make the playoffs and the Cardinals don't, we are truly living in dark times.

But I am taking solace. Because the Cubs are going to get to the World Series. For the first time since 1945. They're probably going to face the Red Sox. So, I want the Cubs, who have not won a World Series since 1908, to make it all the way to game 7 of the WS this year, in a nail-biter, and watch the big prize elude them once again. Hopefully in sudden, heartbreaking fashion.

Come to think of it, I'd probably like it even better if the Cubs made it to the World series and lost to the Yankees, because the Yankees have more World Championships than any other franchise. And the Cubs don't.

Fuck the Cubs.

So last night, the Cubs had a 3-0 lead in the eighth inning (that's almost the end of the game for you non-baseball-understanding communist faggots). After an odd play involving a fan (see here), the Cubs choked and fell apart, which is what the Cubs do. They choke and lose.

What I enjoyed the most was that the cameras kept panning all around the park, looking at the fans. It was priceless. Earlier in the game, they were delirious with joy, thinking they were going to cruise to an easy win and a ticket into the World Series. They were raucous, rowdy, and cheering like mad. After that eight-run inning, which took place over the course of about 10 minutes, the whole ballpark was silent as the grave, and all of the fans had this dumbstruck look on their faces, like they all just found out they were adopted.

Maybe they'll win tonight. But teams tend to get demoralized after such a sudden and crushing defeat.

Mmmmm.... Schadenfreude.

Actually, if you listened closely, there were two fairly audible chants of "Asshole!" and "Throw Him Out!" being directed at the knucklehead who interferred with the play. He needed a security escort to leave the stadium. My prediction? It's going to be a Yankees and Cubs World Series. You heard it here first.

Go Tigers!!

Oh, I could hear them chanting "asshole." But the fact of the matter is that he didn't do anything wrong. The ball was out of play. The ump, who was five feet away, ruled that it was out of play, and therefore, there was no fan interference.

Besides, the Cubs just plain choked. Dusty Baker kept Prior in too long, and the Marlins started shelling him.

The sad thing is that many dipshit Cubs fans will blame that guy for the Cubs losing the game. In fact, the dickheads at the Chicago Sun-Times published the guy's fucking NAME AND PLACE OF WORK in the paper. Now some lunatic fan is propbably going to try to kill this guy.

I say again: Fuck the Cubs. There's a reason they haven't won a championship in 95 years.

My uncle works at a place near there, there were newsvans everywhere, and like you said it was out of play, but i guess all of Chicago are in denial or are dipshits. I found the dismal faces of the fans funny, like Sammy died on the field or something, with that kinda fan spirit, cubs are sure to win.

My prediction is Marlins Vs. Yankees world series, the Cubs lost it 8th inning, and i don't think they'll be able to regain themselves from yesterday. And I got 50 bucks on the line to regain from the Braves loss.

Who cares? The best thing about that game was the news footage. They showed the guy getting esorted out, with a sweatshirt over his face to block the camera. Then, this crazed Cubs fan rushes him and tries to pull off the sweater, but a guard checks him into the wall.

Afterwards, they interviewed the fan and he says he wanted "to expose the man who cost the Cubs the game." Classic.

No word on how one lost ball caused them to botch the game in whatever way that they did. Still, I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of the poor bastard who just wanted a Major League ball.

On a related note, I wonder how much you could get for a ball that cost a Major League team a game?

Why are you so delusional Sammy? Did someone spit on your Members Only jacket while you were in line for a schnitzel at Wrigley?

Haha. Actually, no, fucker. I've been to Wrigley twice, and had a blast both times. But, I'm a native of St. Louis, and the Cardinals-Cubs rivalry goes back a long way.

Having said that, I want to add that I don't take sports that seriously as a rule. In this particular case, I'm rooting for the Cubs to lose in a fashion that will be brutal and sadistic, because I enjoy watching the Cubs fans get their hopes up, only to have them cruelly dashed over the jagged rocks of defeat.

BTW, how's your wife and my kid?

I can't wait for the morning paper:

A headline that includes the word "curse," accompanied by a picture of some forlorned fan. Magnificent.
