The summer here was greener than what I was used to from West Virginia, but I have very specific parts of WV I'm familiar with (north-central (Morgantown) and the eastern panhandle (Berkeley Springs)).
Also, paying to fill a tank with oil to keep your house and water warm suuuuucks.
My mom and dad briefly lived in a home heated by propane. Said that it sucked, that the propane guy pretty much just came whenever, no schedule, and when he topped you off it could be $400 gone out of the blue.
Daaaamn, that sucks. We have to call and arrange it when we're getting low. The last time we did it (which is the second time since I've been here), we basically filled it completely up and it cost 600 dollars.
This house has such old features and I've never lived somewhere like that. Our fusebox actually has fuses in it. Bulbs, rather than switches. C-razy. All the door fixtures are old and shitty (well, inside), and the shower/tub is also old and shitty.
I've always wished I could just have all the best aspects of the houses I lived in in the same place...house A on land B, that sort of thing.
One house we lived in had 7 acres of woods and a pond. That was nice. Of course, it also had a shitload of copperheads, so there was no skipping through piles of autumn leaves
Was that in Ohio? Having a pond on your land would be excellent, yeah. There's a decent-sized creek down the hill from our property on the panhandle of WV, but not something that's leisurely to get to or worth it. My sister and I used to take the dog down there.
