Does anybody listen to the music of Richard D. James' (the guy behind such acid and ambient projects as Aphex Twin and AFX) music. I have the web address of where to find some of his videos here, http://www.sputnik7.com/vod/index.js...music&key=ctdd and here, http://www.sputnik7.com/vod/index.js...music&key=ctdd if anyone is interested.[/url]

I used to listen to Aphex a few years ago but got really tired of his shit. RANDOM NOISE SNARE ROLLLLLLLllll NOISE NOISE LOWER PITCH AMEN BREAK CUT SNARE ROLLLLLllll UGHH

wait or is that squarepusher

He is really good at what he does but I just wish he'd quit fucking around and practice a bit of quality control instead of playing the 'art' card and releasing so much ocmplete shit.

aphex did his share of squarepush-ish drill. As I am new to all that stuff, I like it. I did not care for regular drum and bass back when it was all the rage in my highschool so the idea of crazy sequenced drums, interesting bass lines and found sound or keyboards hasn't been oversaturated to the point of irritation here yet. And I like some of aphex's 'ambient' ( ugh, really not the right word for them ) tracks, but then again, I enjoy actual ambient (as in, brian eno) very much anyhow.

aphex never used an amen loop (or parts of it)? and no 1/xxxth note filtered snare rolls?

don't get me wrong, some of his shit is fantastic, but a lot of it is just

i thought squarepusher was great until last year i paid $20 to see some old dude sitting down in front of two laptops and almost falling asleep... oh yea, when it was time to get serious, the occasional fist pump

that's kinda gay. if you make techno you either DJ it or you have people stand still with drum machines strapped to them while you get people to play the lead and sing like in Revenge Of The Nerds ;<

not saying he didn't, but it's much bigger of a criticism for jenkinson, who's seen as someone who really can't stop doing that album after album.

i imagine hearing a live cd (DYKS, live in japan, which is actually pretty exhausting a whole run through) is better than actually being there.

i would never go to a show like this, i dont even want to see DJs.

ninjavenom: VENETIAN SNARES.

Venetian Snares are pretty good, almost better in the drill insanity than squarepusher most of the time, but the dude's got not the first idea about constructing an actual tonal melody, so tread carefully if you like that side of squarepusher a lot. Get Music for My Cats. It's excellent, but pretty much strictly drill.

Autechre get pretty crazy sometimes. I prefer them in tri though, and generally more ambient than layered INSANITY

But I don't know much about this stuff, so I could be leading you totally wrong.
