i'm not getting into the solo thom yorke at all, aside from the last track. i can't seem to pay attention to it. how are you feeling it so far?
also, the new xiu xiu leaked last night. i gave it a listen before bed. i'm liking it much more than "la foret", but not as much as the other LP's. first three songs are pretty awesome, though.

iron mitch - i really like it. sounds like the amnesiac b-sides a bit. the quality kind of goes up and down too much for 40 minutes but at 5 out of 9 are at least noteworthy.

Rongi - That Skywave album is pretty much 6 parts The Jesus and Mary Chain and 4 parts My Bloody Valentine. Skywave's stuff gets harder to find everyday so I'd pick it up if you get the chance. A Place to Bury Strangers (mentioned in another thread) are shoegazers but they're a bit heavier on the noise. Also check out Swirlies.

as for other great shoegaze-y stuff, don't ever fucking forget all natural lemon & lime. or swervedriver. or astrobrite. or the telescopes.
also, i can't imagine a shoegaze fan not liking at least some of the more "buzz-y" black metal stuff unless they just can't stand darker music or the vocals. check out xasthur, w.o.l.d.,
for more "definitely not shoegaze, but coming from a similar place in the heart" vibe, check out hjarnidaudi, sunroof!, fennesz, ghq, bright, etc.
