Just say "hey can i get your number? there is a really (concert, club shindig, party) going on (whenever)... I would love to take you to it, I think you would really enjoy it".
Of course, I always get the crap from guys where they try to talk to you for a really long time and then get your number. It gets old once you realized that all guys are doing the same lines to get yo digits.

I find that if I'm likely to meet the person again, I won't even bother with the phone number - I'll only ask for it when I need it i.e. have a genuine reason to call her that isn't small-talk related.

Failing that, if you get to know her and reckon she likes you, ask for her number from a friend or whatever and send a nice innocent little "Guess who!!" text message. Works every time!

Dude, I am sitting home on a friday night, so my advice might be worth fuckall. . .But I would say that there is no rule or tactic to getting a girls number. If she acts interested in you, try and corner her in conversation. If she looks like she's jonesin for you, then just play it straight. Say she's cute, tell you had fun and that you'd like to hang out sometime when there aren't so many people and then ask for her number so you can get in touch later.

The only thing I would say is wait til you think the conversation is almost at an end, so if she says no, it doesn't need to be awkward, and you can say something to laugh it off and not make her feel like an asshole.

One no doesn't mean a thing. Maybe she had a bad experience and she's wary, maybe she wants to see if you're really interested, or maybe she just doesn't want to move that quickly. DOn't take it personal, don't be detered. If nothing else, shoot for friendship and leave things open.

Anyway, thats my advice.

I've been in this situation before. What I did was simply talk to the girl and to make sure to not seem too desperate. When she was about to leave, I asked her if she would like to talk again at some point. She gave me her AOL screen name (I'm uncomfortable talking on the phone), and it was actually hers. After a few days of talking to her on AIM, though, I found out she was quite vapid and was sort of the village bicycle.

If you really like a girl you meet a party, try to talk it up with her, then ask for her phone number/AIM Screen Name/email address so you can continue talking to her. Then work your way up to asking her out....

I have no idea if this will help you or not... I hope it does more good than bad, though.
