night of the comet - a bad movie but with some pretty good ideas
true legend - like a classic wuxia but with modern shitty camera work and cgi!
alamar - interesting enough. some nice shots.
cinema paradiso - crap.
the relic - crap.
home movies (again) - awesome.

while she was out or something

this movie is so stupid it makes me mad

so its a woman on the run from some thugs.
first shes in a car and they are all having a car chase. theyve already shot a cop that tried to stop them from messing with her. she has a hella far lead on them. she stops at a deserted gas station for what. to call the cops? wtf is that gonna do.
turn down a sidestreet you stupid bitch.
soi they catch up.
more chases.
they skid out.
she manages to go through a deadend sign and crash into some shit.
rather than getting out and immediately running away, she spends like ten minutes rummaging around and grabbing a loud and heavy toolbox.
then she sits around and does nothing until the thugs finally show up and crash their car. they dont even notice her car. she is just standing there. waiting for them to get closer.
finally they get close and she runs with her loud and heavy toolbox.
look at that they somehow noticed her.

ten minutes later shes still "running" by which i mean runs ten steps then hears the bad guys yell so she stops to turn around and LOOK AT THEM AND LIKE WAIT FOR THEM. EVERYTIME THROUGHOUT THIS MOVIE. EVERY. TIME. LOOK I HAVE A LEAD ON THEM. TIME TO STAND AROUND AND DO NOTHING FOR A WHILE> OMGZ THEY CAUGHT UP! TIME TO RUN! OK I THINK IM KINDA FAR NOW TIME TO STOP AND LISTEN TO THEM YELL AND PEE AND DO ALL THAT OTHER SHIT.
ok now i somehow got kinda far from them but i found them again what i went in a circle. time to sit here and listen to their music and everything they have to say. for three minutes
OMGZ THEY SAW ME TIME TO RUN AND FALL.
runs across river.
OMGZ I GOT FAR AWAY TIME TO STOP AND WAIT FOR THEM BETTER NOT FORGET MY LOUD AND HEAVY TOOLBOX.

ten i fell asleep
watch this movie if you like having things to yell about

Just watched Terminator 2 on BluRay. Damn, that movie has some low volume conversations and lots of super loud explosions, shootouts and music...so the loud stuff was SUPER loud, unlike the soundmix on my DVD of the same flick.
My neighbors must really hate me by now.

Lincoln.

If you're a history nerd, it's great. There are a few departures from reality and some license was taken (all of the pro-slavery guys are weasely and unctuous, for example), but all in all it was a beautifully shot film. No pun intended. Har-de-har-har.

Daniel Day-Lewis was fucking amazing and Tommy Lee Jones stole the show.

Yesterday I had a bad stomach flu, so I spent part of the afternoon on the sofa streaming from Netflix. I streamed Killer Klowns from Outer Space. For some reason I was disappointed. Either it didn't feel quite zany enough or I just knew too well what to expect after seeing James Rolfe's review.

Django Unchained

It was ok. Better than Inglourious Basterds or Death Proof, but it dragged on too long and was kinda forgettable. Still, I was entertained, which is more I can say for most movies these days.

Theatrical or Director's cut? Theatrical version is shitty as shit, but the DC one is actually quite decent. Despite Orlando Bloom who has the same expression the whole movie.

They could have had a giant Gatling type machine gun. They did it in Lone Wolf and Cub.

Insidious. It was really good. Only complaint was the incessant banging on the bass keys of a piano to make you jump. Especially because they actually have a piano so everytime I heard it go off I just pictured some asshole ghost dropping the macho man elbow on the keys.

Spoilers!

Watched Identity Thief in the theater. It was okay I guess. It sort of felt like watching a really long sitcom.

Also, watching Melissa McCarthy masturbate with a shower massager, while you're sitting next to your mother, is awkward.

Most recently I streamed The Adventures of Tintin. I wrote more about it in my blog, but I'll just say here that it's a decent diversion with some really good graphics and some spectacular action sequences.

I could never get into that comic. I think it was featured in Heavy Metal a long long time ago and I kept shipping through it to get to the sex and gore comics.

I watched Casino Royale for the first time last week and it was better than I thought it would be, I've tried watching Q of S a few times but I always wind up changing the channel. The probably put long commercials in the worst places.

It was weird watching the couple from As Time Goes By being government type people.
