my friend Del, whom is a jamaican, came over my house one day. i noticed he was acting very strange. he went into my yard and planted something in one of the pots and told me to water it every day. so i did it foolishly and wouldn't you know it, it's good ol marijuana.

i don't want to destroy it though. neither do i want to smoke it. i kinda want to just grow it for fun. how do you grow these kind of things? do they need a lot of sun or water? and just out of curiousity, how can you tell if it's good weed? i heard that if it has flowers it's no good and i should just throw it away.

Dont let anyone see that plant (like the police) the bigger they grow, the longer your gonna spend time behind bars! your in the city that never sleeps, is that l.a.? if so copters (police) have a special camera i believe, that can detect marijuana vegatation from a very far distance... right down to a single leaf!

unless it's in an area secluded from public view, i would definitely suggest bringing that shit inside too... you're in the u.s. - from what i understand they don't fuck around!
but to answer your question, unless you want to set up some hydroponic operation with industrial lighting, take care of it pretty much how you would a regular plant. lots of lighting is good, but not too much water if i recall correctly. marijuana plants either develop as male or female... females develop the 'buds' which can be smoked, so if you want to actually grow smokable pot the plant must be a female, which (as far as i know), you can only tell once the plant is already somewhat grown. you can tell if it's good weed usually if the buds smell strong (a sweet or 'skunky' smell is a good indicatory), or if they are sticky with a lot of crystal-like material on them. these indicators aren't guarantees though - smoking a bit is obviously the best way to determine quality.
i'm no expert though - i grew some in my old apartment once and it wasn't that great. my roommates know like everything though, so if there's anything specific you want to know i can find out for ya.

soundtest, it has a sort of skunky smell but it's not sticky. it smells a lot like del's house even. i guess i'll buy a heater. i saw del growing some once and he had a lot of heaters around it and a spray bottle near it.

And weed smoking in Jamaica is like underage drinking in America. Just about everyone does it, and the cops usually have better things to worry about.

So a black Jamaican smoking weed isn't really a stereotype..it's just the way things are.
