So what do you think is up with this show? I've met people who are actually that horrible, so I can buy it on that front.

I guess one that was just featured was arrested for a parole violation because she was seen driving like an idiot on camera, and her story was that it was scripted.

Or maybe they just encourage these women to be horrible bitches because it makes for better TV. Some of the stuff seems a bit on-the-nose to trigger anger, like the woman last week who told her ex-husband (stationed in Iraq) that she needed more money for child support/bills, then turned around and spent it on her wedding.

They used to give the couples free Jamaican honeymoons at one of those "better bring some Lysol for the hot tub" mass resorts. I don't know if they still do. Wouldn't be worth it to me, I'd rather go without the free vacation than have everyone who sees the show talk about what a hideous bitch I was.

They must be acting, or at least exaggerating.. what would the producers of the show do if they taped an entire episode and the bride was just kinda bitchy during the whole thing?

Some are worse than others. The one who wanted a gun just in case her ex showed up (when they were sure to show it was more than obvious that he wouldn't, and didn't give a shit) was a bit over the top.

The one who got arrested did some bizarre stuff, like wanting to box her future mother in law and stomping on a homemade wedding gift, was definitely over the top.

That being said, I've had more than enough exposure to the "It's MY DAY" mentality and the "I'm the princess and I should be prettiest and it's all about me" mentality, and seen more than a few women who mistakenly believe it's more about the party than the lifetime commitment.

I think they somehow contact the show, maybe via the channel's website.

That sort of reinforces my notion that the bad behavior is kind of egged on from the beginning.

It's on a channel I don't watch, so it must be horrible.

Not as horrible as the show where they make already thin women lose weight to fit into their dresses.

I know a young "lady" who was engaged to a younger man (some might say "boy" - he was 19) who wrote an "angrygram" to her future mother-in-law about how when her son became a husband he would cease to pay attention to mom, because mom didn't or wouldn't do, or was about a dozen and a half things, mostly insulting and largely stupid. Mom showed the note to junior with the intent that he should "see the kind of person he was marrying" and you know what? He called off the wedding.

Not exactly Bridezilla-worthy, but it makes me believe that the show is largely accurate. There are some right crazy people out there.

I've had to be a "sport" at so many weddings that I believe the bridezilla phenomenon is largely based in fact. I think women just get entranced by the attention and it gets ugly.

I was a bridesmaid in one wedding that was 8 hours from where I lived. Because of work, the fact that I can't drive, and the fact that it was 8 hours away, I couldn't go do all of the normal bridesmaid-y things, and I thought the bride understood that. She's a reasonable enough person. But she was irritated that I couldn't come in to be fitted for the rental dress, even though I sent my measurements and size.

When I arrived the day before the wedding, all of the bridesmaids had their dresses but me. Twenty minutes before go time, I had decided to sit things out. However, the groom's mother came screeching into the driveway with a last minute gown for me. Only problem was that it was about 10 sizes too big (not exaggerating). It was damn near a circus tent.

We tried to figure out how to make it work. I tried bunching it up and pinching it at my sides, but the top kept sliding down. We didn't have enough safety pins to get the job done. Finally two people stretched the side-flaps out, crisscrossed them at the back, and duct-taped me into the dress. Then I had a big plaster of duct tape on my back, so someone snatched a white polyester tablecloth off a reception table and gave it to me to wear as a shawl. And no one else had a tablecloth-shawl, so I didn't match the other bridesmaids, and that irritated the bride. But what was I going to do?

I was partway through the ceremony when I felt the duct tape starting to let go (even duct tape is powerless against scotchguarded polyester crepe) and I had to clamp my arms to my sides to keep the dress on. I look constipated in all the wedding photos.

The bride wanted us to go straight to the reception in our wedding attire after the photos, so I went wrapped in a tablecloth and trailing strips of duct tape. And then she was mad that I didn't dance.

And to this day I have the vague suspicion that I went down in history as "the uncooperative one" because I didn't go in for the fitting.

I believe this to be the case. Im sure the women who actually contact that show are at least some what a self centered bitch to start but exaggerate it for the show. They are the women you hear saying things like "Yeah Im a bitch and I dont care.". Plus Im sure the show encourages it too.

Now that's 1002 uses for duct tape. Shades of MacGyver.
