You seem to express an interest in non-fiction that would reconcile science and the humanities. I'm now in the midst of a book, The Hedgehog, The Fox, and the Magister's Pox Mending the Gap Between Science and the Humanities by Stephen Jay Gould
, that explicitly explores that topic. It takes a look at both the history of science (particularly natural science) and the humanities with respect to how and why they diverged.
