What the fuck?? Just when you think George Lucas can't do any WORSE, he pulls something lame this! Evidently it's a small fucking galaxy. Fucking LAME.

Let the wookie win! Chewie makes his way into EPISODE III!
Thursday, April 24th, 2003 - 05:40 AM PST

Star Wars Episode III: Rick McCallum recently said that George Lucas was going to connect the final prequel with a New Hope in some “very cool and unexpected ways”. One of these bridges was revealed today when the Official Site reported that Chewbacca will be joining the ranks of C-3P0 and R2-D2 in Star Wars Episode III.
Episode III will further connect the Star Wars saga, bridging the prequel trilogy to the original trilogy in new and surprising ways. As such, familiar faces and places will return in this new Star Wars film, which is currently in pre-production. Reprising their classic roles from the original trilogy are actors Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. They return to Star Wars as Chewbacca the Wookiee, C-3PO and R2-D2.

Peter Mayhew, the man behind the furry mask in the original trilogy, will reprise his role as the walking carpet. Here's what he had to say:

"I'm delighted to return as Chewbacca," says Mayhew. "I think his re-appearance in this film is a fitting way to tie the whole saga together, especially for Wookiee fans." Given that Chewbacca is a sprightly 200 years old in Episode IV, he is more than old enough to fit into the prequel timeline.

*whiny roar*

Predictions:
-Chewie has ridiculous muppet eyes a la Yoda in Episode One to signify his youth. Possibly a very light color of fur as well.
-This is no plain old background role; Chewbacca's interference is pivottal. He becomes best friends with Anakin Skywalker and saves his life (someone's life, anyway), even though the name doesn't ring a bell when he meets Luke Skywalker several years later.
-He tears off someone's arms, because us fans need to see that (just as watching Yoda in a lightsaber duel).

I bet they're adding in the race between Han Solo and Lando Calrissian mentioned in The Empire Strikes Back, just like they, for Episode II, threw in the Clone Wars mentioned by Luke and Leia in A New Hope and centered around it.

We all know Episode III will suck, so it might as well suck so fucking hard that it completely eliminates any desire to "watch all six back-to-back, dude."

Probably not. I'm not sure what Anakin's age would be during Episode III, but I don't think it would match up. Unless they throw in a ridiculously young Han Solo. Which, I suppose, makes it possible all over again.

Chebacca could rip off jar-jar's arms! Wait that would never happen. I guess if done right a cameo by chewbacca could be cool, but wasn't chewbacca a slave that was freed by han solo? If so that kinda limits what chewbacca could do in this movie, unless, well i do not even want to think of it.

I grew up with the Star Wars movies, I know George Lucas is shitting on the spirit with the new movies but god damn it, I still can't help watching them.

Chewbacca or not, I'll go see it. If it sucks, then hey, Lucas only got $7 at most out of me.

Apparently, George Lucas lost his continuity among the piles and piles of money.

Now, I've never seen Star Wars, but I imagine that if Chewbacca's in Episode 3, that would mean that he should have a rather good idea that Luke and Leia are related, and Vader's their father.

Looks like Lucas is going to re-re-revise the original trilogy, using CG to add a knowing smirk on the Wookiee's face. You know, for continuity purposes.

You know an awful lot about Star Wars for never having seen it.

You really should watch the old ones. They're awesome. Don't waste your time on the new ones though.

I enjoyed them on a purely visual level (as I'm sure I will also enjoy Episode 3), but as far as the story goes:

I'm still waiting for the fan-cut of Episode 2 to show up at comic-cons, shorn to a solid hour and a half that basically cuts out all that bullshit Anakin-in-Love crap. It was unrealistic to begin with.

As for a visual level, I think that's the only way Star Wars can be enjoyed. Let's face it, it's dull as dishwater but sometimes the effects are nice to look at. The acting, however....less said, the better.

Even the visual levels of the new ones suck. Lucas should have gotten Spielberg to direct them.

Somehow I think Spielburg would have made them worse....or gone on TV going on and on endlessly about how 'important' the movies are and how they describe perfectly to some pretentious agenda he has going how life and shit...and the last thing I need when I'm going to see an glorified piece of eye candy is some idiot going on how about minute details are his commentary about the world.

You know, the usual for overrated directors.

The only thing that would have made the Anakin/Padme love story watchable is a steamy sex scene with full frontal Natalie Portman nudity.

Regarding the visuals, you're right, that is the main appeal of the newer trilogy, and with that in mind, I think we can all agree that the Yoda ligthsaber fight scene was fucking cool

I'll stick with the originals... these prequels have been nothing but huge let downs with a few decents scenes (maybe 10 minutes worth total so far?)

With X-Men 2, Matrix 2, Pirates of the Caribbean, LOTR, and much more all coming out this year... I say Star Wars can go fuck itself.

Spielberg over-rated? Ha, he still made JAWS, Close Encounters, and Schindler's List.

Everything I know about Star Wars comes from Kevin Smith movies, word of mouth, and various quoting/parodies in TV shows.

Well, you should seriously watch the old trilogy.

I agree with Rog, there are too many awesome new movies coming out for me to give a shit about Episode 3 at this point. I'll still see it, just for the visual entertainment of it all, but I'm not looking forward to it in ANY way.
