According to the U.S. Joint Forces Command, Mexico is one of two countries that "bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse". The other country is nuclear armed Pakistan. It seems Mexico has been loosing control of it's military and law enforcement for some time now, and we all know what happens when a government no longer has these tools availible to it.

I'm wondering if they were eluding to a breakup of states or a violent overthrow of the entire government.

I don't understand why the AP and other reputable news agencies aren't reporting on things that happen in Mexico. This was an official press release and only FOX and some radical militant Texas networks picked it up. You would think this is kind of a serious thing for quite a few people living in the US.

I think this is a perfect time to consolidate North America. We wouldn't need to worry about illegal immigrants as much.

Hasnt Mexico been "on the brink" for a while now? I thought was just how they liked it down there.

I also always thought of Mexico as always riding the razor's edge when it came to that. That's it's tourist attraction other than the beaches. Experience the danger and excitement of the third world, without being in the third world.

You're assuming it didn't suck to live in Texas before that news report.

Texas gets the cowboys. They aren't so bad, Cali gets the thieves and rapist On the other hand we also get the slutty chicas, so it's an even trade.

I've always thought that Mexico was, you know, kind of held together with duct tape. Only, the old and shitty kind of duct tape where the adhesive's gone all powdery and the little strings are coming out here and there.

I mean, wasn't that where everyone ran in the 60s and probably earlier to avoid drug charges? I know that's right where Kesey and Burroughs went. San Miguel de Allende was notorious for that, wasn't it?

Well, I can't say it sucks because I'm not in Texas, but since I'm right next door in Louisiana, all I can say is, if you guys abandon Texas to come this way, you'd better bring some barbecue.

Well if Mexico does collapse I'm pretty sure it'll just be annexed by the US. I mean, why not? The NAU will form eventually anyway might as well do it the old fashioned way.

It never left the news down here. Some Mexican hitmen recently killed a guy who looked like the rival dealer they were after.

Some cartel back in Mexico, I suppose. Caught a blurb about it on the local news last week. I'll see if their website has the story.

Oh, no, the hitmen were after a dealer who was in competition with their employer. Can't find the story... might've been a different network, I guess.

I see, so it's drug lords fighting on U.S. soil but they are citizens of Mexico.
