Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World as well as his Dragons of Eden top my list. A third would be Steven Pinker's The Blank Slate.

This thread reminds me I need to start reading regularly again.

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut
To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee (I know everyone read this in school, but you know what? Fuck you.)

Kafka is s hit and people who like him have boring taste in literature. I've never been able to enjoy anything that I've read from him except tiny parts of each book. I think that you could get more from reading the stranger by camus than everything that kafka wrote with his asshole because you probably don't know this but kafka actually wrote by sticking the pen in his ass and writing. That's the real reason his writing is so famous. NOT BECAUSE ITS SO PHILOSOPHICALLY BRILLANT.

The best books I've read recently are the Kreutzer sonata by tolstoy, notes from underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky and i like this book by this fellow named EM Cioran called "The trouble with being born." ;o

Only 3, are you kidding?

The entire Sherlock Holmes collection by Sir Arthur Doyle (ha!)
American Gods by Neil Gaiman
Small Gods by Terry Pratchett

ugh, now I'm going to pass by my bookshelf and they're all going to glare at me, thanks.

Small Gods was the first one I read. Not a good first start but I was lucky enough to have bought Reaper Man and Wyrd Sisters at the same time as Small Gods.

I'm not saying that Small Gods is the sux, It's just to dry for an introduction to Pratchett.

My all time favs? Hmmm. I guees the ones that stick out the most is,
Hitchhikers Guide (Entire withought the very very last one)
Fear and Loathing in LV
I guess 3rd is a toss up.

EDIT: 3rd would be anything by Homer.

Really really? My local bookstore had the hardcover of that on sale and I'm soooo tempted to buy it. There would be no question if I hadn't just bought six new books...
